Hello and welcome to the sale of this superb mk2 Scirocco. This car has predominantly had just one owner for the majority of its life, until it changed in to collector ownership a couple of years ago. It was supplied new in 1990 to the original owner by Mann Egerton VW of Swindon, so carries nice local provenance to us here in Wiltshire. It has a comprehensive history file including a stamped up service book, and supporting invoices and MOT certificates to verify the low mileage of just 74,000. The bodywork is in excellent condition, with nothing significant in the way of damage, dents or scratches. In my opinion I would say the car has had a respray, although clearly some time in the past, and to a very good standard. There is zero signs of welding or accident damage, so this clearly suggests it was just the previous original owner keeping his pride and joy looking fresh, and it still looks fantastic for it today, and retains a deep shine. All the body kit, trims, rubbers and glass are also in excellent condition. The original BBS alloy wheels are in perfect order, complete with centre caps and badges, and shod with matching tyres all round with excellent tread. It also has a set of period fog lamps, and the original dealer sticker in the rear window. Underneath the car is also in fine fettle, all mechanically sound with a recent MOT, and absolutely no rot or corrosion bar the odd bit of very light surface rust to some components as to be expected on any old vehicle that has not been nut and bolt restored. The interior is also in superb condition, with a crack free dashboard, original radio cassette and lovely seats with no rips or tears. The headlining is good and has a working tilting sunroof. The rear seats are a decent size and the hatchback gives a large boot, making this a very practical and usable classic. The 1.8 petrol engine has recently been fitted with a new Weber carburettor with a manual choke making starting easy and reliable. It idles and revs well and power delivery is smooth. On the road it handles well with no knocks or bangs, and pulls up square under braking. The rare automatic gearbox might not be the most obvious choice for some, however the box changes very nicely, with a smooth shift and responsive kick down. Considering this is not a particularly fast or sporty car even in manual form, the auto box gives a very relaxing drive and again lends this car to being a very usable classic car with daily drive potential. To sum up, this is an extremely cool looking retro coupe, in superb condition throughout, it proves to be a doddle to own and drive, and is sure to bring many more years of practical classic motoring to the next lucky owner.
